Starting Capsicum Plant in Recycled Egg Tray

I read online that it is possible to grow Capsicum from freshly harvested seeds. I decide to give it a try and bought a yellow Capsicum.

To harvest the seeds, I remove the stem from the pepper and gave it a good shake to remove the seeds. Wow.. Didn't manage this many seeds!

I took a dozen for immediate growing and the rest I left them on the plant and put them under the sun for drying. I read that it will take a week to two to dry them properly.

I am using recycled egg tray to grow germinate the Capsicum.

First, make a few holes using a pin

Fill the tray with loamy soil.Followed by some potting soil. The 2 holes on the top are loamy soil, and the remaining holes have been topped with potting soil.

Place the seed into the tray. You can place 2-3 seeds in each tray as it is not 100% germination. For me, I will just place 1 in each hole as there are 12 holes and I only need 2-3 plants.

Then I cover them with another thin layer of potting soil followed by some loamy soil.

Water them and close the tray. Leave them in a warm spot.

Happy Waiting!
